May 2009

Feature Introduction

We're excited to show you many of the new features included in this release. This introduction will take you through the major changes so that you have a grasp of what Gogrok 2.0 has to offer.

NOTE: Gogrok 2.0 is NOT compatible with other old versions of Gogrok. All session participants have to install v.2.0 in order to perform a successful connection.

Gogrok 2.0 release is focused along certain key themes:

  • Annotation Tools
  • Panel Docking
  • Encryption for Higher Security Level
  • Better Connectivity
  • Proxy Server
  • Viewer Pointer

Annotation Tools

Gogrok 2.0 is well equipped with an easy and powerful annotation tool set. It allows Application Owners to draw freehand and mark up key areas of the shared content during Gogrok sessions. The annotation tools provide a convenient way for interactive presentations, two-way browsing and reading, brainstorming, and online tutoring.

After the Application Owner grants the editing right to one of the participants, the participant becomes Editor and is capable of using annotation tools. The Application Owner and the Editor can both use the annotation tools to draw or highlight on the same shared content.

Panel Docking

In order to maximize your collaborative working space on your computer screen, Gogrok panel can be docked at right or at top. What’s even better is the new auto hide button allows you to hide the panel when you don’t use it.

Encryption for Higher Security Level

All Gogrok data streams, including screen images, mouse movements, and keyboard signals, are end-to-end encrypted using PKI and Blowfish encryption technology. This ensures your Gogrok sessions are completely private and secure. For maximum security, Gogrok is using 64-bit block cipher algorithm with a 128-bit encryption key, which is the leading internet standard for securing sensitive data transit.

Better Connectivity

For better internet traffic control, many organizations adopt advanced firewall to block certain access. The restricted firewall rules have sometimes accidentally blocked Gogrok from communicating over the internet. To solve this, Gogrok 2.0 applies the sophisticated analysis technology that will scan your network system rapidly and connect automatically through ports that are opened in most firewalls. Therefore it provides a high degree of compatibility with your existing network security.

Proxy Server

To ensure Gogrok users who behind proxy servers can still connect, Gogrok 2.0 now supports SOCKS5 and HTTPS proxy server internet connection. Click Options on Gogrok panel and go to Network to enter the proxy settings. If you have problems with proxy server settings, please consult with your network administrator for assistance.

Viewer Pointer

The remote participants of the same Gogrok session can click and hold their left mouse button to move their own viewer pointers into the shared screen without controlling the Application Owner's computer. This serves as indicators for participants to communicate screen positions they are referring to others, and help them understand each other better. If there is more than one viewer, the pointers will show in different colors to distinguish. The viewer pointers can be removed by Viewers right clicking on the pointers or Application Owners left clicking on the pointers. This feature is great for online meetings, online services, and e-learning.
